چکیده
Background Radiostereometric analysis (RSA) has been used to determine migration and wear of orthopedic implants. Radiostereometry makes use of a cage with control marker and fiducial to calculate a three dimensional (3D) coordinate system. Spherical tantalum markers are inserted into the bone and implant to identify distinct points of measurement for each part of the skeleton and implant involved. Tatalum markers are inserted using a steel cannula, the insertion of which into cortical or Last Review 10/27/2016 Effective: 10/10/2014 Next Review: 10/26/2017

Precise and feasible measurements of lateral calcaneal lengthening osteotomies by radiostereometric analysis in cadaver feet
OBJECTIVES Lengthening osteotomies of the calcaneus in children are in general grafted with bone from the iliac crest. Artificial bone grafts have been introduced, however, their structural and clinical durability has not been documented. Radiostereometric analysis (RSA) is a very accurate and precise method for measurements of rigid body movements including the evaluation of joint implant and ...
متن کاملA challenge on Orthopedic Sciences: The Influence of Spinal Disease and Deformities on Total Hip Arthroplasty: A Review on Literature
Background: Adult degenerative disorders of hip and spine are common. The recent studies inconsistently havediscussed about the influence of spinal disorders on total hip arthroplasty (THA). In this review, we discussed clearlyabout these relationships and their effects on the most appropriate position of the acetabular component. Methods: We searched on databases and evaluated the articles abou...
متن کاملThe Role of Spinopelvic Parameters in Clinical Outcomes of Spinal Osteotomies in Patients with Sagittal Imbalance
Background: Sagittal imbalance is known as the main radiographic driver of disability in adult spinal deformity (ASD).In this study, the association of radiological spinopelvic parameters and clinical outcomes was evaluated following thecorrective surgery of sagittal imbalance, in order to explore the predictive ability of each parameter. Methods: A total of 23 patients, who underwent corrective...
متن کاملEvaluation of Cinical and Radiological Results of Calcaneal Lengthening Osteotomy in Pediatric Idiopathic Flexible Flatfoot
Abstract: Background: Flexible idiopathic flatfoot is the most common form of flatfoot. First line treatments are parental reassurance and conservative measures. However, surgical treatment may be needed in some cases. A number of surgical techniques with varying results have been described in the literature. Here, we present our clinical and radiological outcomes of calcaneal lengthening osteo...
متن کاملSurrogate markers of long-term outcome in primary total hip arthroplasty
OBJECTIVES High failure rates of metal-on-metal hip arthroplasty implants have highlighted the need for more careful introduction and monitoring of new implants and for the evaluation of the safety of medical devices. The National Joint Registry and other regulatory services are unable to detect failing implants at an early enough stage. We aimed to identify validated surrogate markers of long-...
